Introduction
In the rural area of the beautiful nation Nepal, a housewife proved that a small sewing needle could be stronger than the household chores- it could be the powerful weapon to increase income and make financial independence. With her own trying and no any formal training, she began a small sewing profession at her area. She collected orders from her neighbors and relatives and invested her time to make quality products. She regularly takes her effort to produce more designs and items. She was getting some supports with her husband to grow her skills.
Transformation
As the trust of neighbors and relative on her grew, the number of orders increased. Also her confidence was built up, and this success made her dream of growing her small venture. She made a decision to turn her skill into a proper business. She had no formal business experience but started a tailoring center by renting a small room. Thanks to her mother-in-law’s support, she was able to manage both her home and work smoothly. As her business grew, she realized she needed more materials to meet the demand. Within just seven months, her work gained popularity in the local area.
The Turning Point
Her business has been transformed when she has got the opportunity to take part in the entrepreneurship development training program where she get to know about pricing strategies, customer service, costumer behaviors, marketing techniques, business plan preparation, and business grow strategies. She also learned to calculate material costs properly helped her set fair prices by ensuring the profit. As per her response she is more conscious on the behavior with customers, she realize the power of mouth and communication. Her learning provide more guidance to dealing with costumer with systematic way and determining rates to stitching cloths and sell more products.
She said “I was never participated in any skill development trainings, I thought if I will go at training my business will be disturb but I was wrong, If I had missed these trainings my career would be lost. These trainings actually provided me more skills and techniques and guided me to run the business smoothly.”
After returning from the trainings she expanded her business by investing in better quality fabrics and materials and job provided two assistance to handle increasing orders. Nowadays her business became popular for special products like wedding attire, festival clothing and new fashion designing clothes. The costumer volume is also increased.
Challenges overcome
During the starting phase she has faced more challenges like;
- Lacking on proper knowledge regarding the business running.
- Low budget to purchase quality materials.
- Balancing household responsibilities along with business and workloads.
Although there were more difficulties she always ready to face and try to manage with using her knowledge and experience. She developed more systems to make more systematic and organizing business. She follows more rules like; keeping detailed records of the orders and prioritizing tasks. She also take support with her mother in law in household chores and with assistants in business work.
Replications
Her great achievements became popularity in her area. Some of her friends and neighbors got inspired with her and visited her to get ideas to start up similar ventures. Several housewives started exploring different ways to monetize their skills by inspiring her. The local economy has been benefited as she regularly purchased materials from nearby suppliers and provided employment opportunity to villagers especially youths.

Way Forward
Today, she dream to expand her business by providing trainings to other youths and women. She want to support all youths and women to start their own ventures or any kinds of entrepreneurship instead working vacant at home and going to abroad for earning. Her story stands as proof that with persistence and willingness to learn, even the most modest beginnings can grow into extraordinary success.
